NATIONAL CALF TRACKER: The largest calf string sold this week was 95 steers (473#) from Gainesville, Missouri at $219.50. The average price paid this week for the top 10 calf strings was $199.03, compared to $202.33 last week
LIVESTOCK COMMENTS: The CME Feeder Cattle index price has increased $13 per hundredweight since the first day of July and $25 per hundred-weight since the first day of June. That put the reading of the CME Feeder Cattle index just over $178 earlier this week, which values an 800 pound steer at $1,424 per head. This is the highest index reading since November 2015
NATIONAL STEER TRACKER: The largest steer string (700-899#) sold this week was 348 steers (720#) from El Reno, Oklahoma at $184.25. The average price for the top 10 steer strings sold this week was $183.00, compared to $181.21 last week
NATIONAL CATTLE TRACKER: The largest steer and heifer string sold this week was 348 steers (720#) from El Reno, Oklahoma at $184.25. The second largest string was 283 steers (1016#) from El Reno, Oklahoma at $159.50
USDA CROP PRODUCTION: Soybean Production Up 2 Percent from 2021; Cotton Production Down 28 Percent from 2021
USDA Crop Production Comments: The 2021 corn planted area is estimated at 89.8 million acres, down less than 1 percent from the June estimate and down 4 percent from 2021
